Before selecting a training institute, students are required to go through the cost and length of the EMT training program. The minimum hours for EMT training at each level of training are 40 hours. The length of the training program at each level is as follows:
- EMT-Basics: To complete basic training, a candidate requires 120 hours of learning. This is the initial level of training, which prepares a candidate for basic services.
- EMT-Intermediate: To pursue EMT intermediate training, 320 hours of classroom and clinical training along with basic training is required.
- EMT-Paramedic: To pursue EMT paramedic training, a candidate needs to complete training of 1000-1200 hours. For paramedic training, many states provide an associates college degree to the aspirants.
Besides the duration of the training program, students should also check the cost of the training program. Basically, the EMT training fees in New Jersey ranges from $1,595 to $6,294.
